Website accessibility is a passion of Energetica's and we are continually striving for best practice in this area. Accessibility can be complicated, but Energetica have developed a range of approaches into our standard practice to ensure our non-profit customers can deliver high level accessibility practices for an affordable rate.

Accessibility is a broad and complex area, it encompasses disability, but also language barriers. The Institute for Cultural Diversity website has been a great opportunity for us to incorporate Google Translate into our websites.

Energetica holds web 2.0 workshop for MAV

Lisa Harvey and Lyndsey Jackson from Energetica had the pleasure of running a two day workshop for the Municipal Association of Victoria in September. 

The workshop looked at online community engagement and discussed the tools, strategies and examples for local government.

Government 2.0 Taskforce Mashup Competition

The Government 2.0 Taskforce has launched the MashUpAustralia contest. Part of the role of the Taskforce is to look at the issue of public sector data, particularly when and where data should be available for public access. 

The contest is a way to highlight the innovative ways data can be used and how and access to public sector data strengthens the knowledge, research and evidence that underpins the important work of not-for-profits. A number of Government agencies have provided their data sets for the contest.

I was looking for some information on the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, coming from South Australia and with all the recent talk of the Victorian Country Fire Service I typed ‘New South Wales Country Fire Service’ into my trusty search engine.

The site I wanted was nestled away in spot number five, found because one of the site information pages (not the home page) contained a combination of the words I was looking for. The top spots went to the New South Wales Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Society. Hmmmmmmm.

Lisa Harvey's latest CEO Wrapup

"Wrapup" sounds like things are finished and we are at the end of a journey, but it is a catchier title than "report from along the way".
 
It as been an incredible few months for me personally and the team have made some great achievements too.
 
We've launched several Intranets for clients and only one new public site (www.workventures.com.au) so most of our recent work is not visible. We are used to being able to show off your work, but we can't this time.
